Due to the rapidly evolving situation with regard to COVID-19, we have decided to postpone Lighten Up until a later date, to be decided. I will update you as soon as we pick a new date.

Julia Morrow

Julia brings a therapeutic approach to health and wellness, making it accessible to everyone. She has been a Yoga teacher in the Baltimore area since 2011. She completed her 200-hour training in Therapeutic Yoga and her 500-hour training in Alignment Based Yoga. Guiding movement through proper technique, Julia pulls from her yoga and 15 years of dance training to deliver the Nia promise in every class she teaches. She guarantees you will receive a dynamic Nia class, where you are challenged with unique movement patterns, and are offered possibilities to increase intensity if desired. Always looking to learn more, she will be traveling to Nia HQ this year to receive her First Degree Black Belt!

This is Julia’s 6th year running Lighten Up. Here’s how it all began …

“In 2013 I went to Albany, New York, to take the Nia 52 moves training with Debbie Rosas and Kevin VerEecke. When I returned, Lola, the owner of Movement Lab, mentioned to me how great I looked, and I told her with the amount of precise movement we had throughout the training, it was the perfect jumpstart and the push I needed to begin my fitness journey.

Throughout the coming weeks, we continued to come back to that conversation and realized that we needed to create a program that allowed others to jumpstart their goals and experience all that Nia has to offer. This is how we created LIGHTEN UP.

Our intention was to offer Nia lovers an empowering week full of Nia! I knew that most importantly we needed to break down the 52 moves that make up Nia, so that it felt accessible and attainable to everyBODY. So that’s exactly what we did. Each year has changed slightly, and I took over offering this program on my own a few years ago.

When I returned from the Nia Black Belt training this past September, I had a renewed desire to put together the best that I can offer. After careful consideration, I am thrilled to partner with Alba Azola, M.D., a fellow Black Belt Nia Instructor, and Tammy Jett-Parmer, PA-C, Certified Health and Wellness Coach, who has a certification in Exercise Nutrition.

I can guarantee this will be an energetic, fun and empowering week!”
